One day dentistry in first class quality

MDT Benjamin Votteler and Dr. Andrea Klink use a patient case to demonstrate how One Day Dentistry can be performed without compromising quality - treatment of the patient is presented, starting with the preparation of two individual crowns, followed by their technical fabrication from zirconia, through to adhesive insertion. Perfect results can only be achieved if the laboratory and the dental practice focus on their respective core competencies and work together as a team.

Selecting the Correct Zirconia: How Lab Technicians Can Help Clinicians Improve the Clinical Success

Selection of the correct dental material for each case is often underestimated by clinicians and left as a duty and responsibility of lab technicians. Since various generations and technologies of zirconia discs are offered these days, understanding the basic properties of zirconia and characteristics of each type and generation is essential for technicians to possibly guide the clinician toward a favorable long-term clinical outcome based on each individual case. In addition, Lab Technicians may face questions from Clinicians that would be best addressed by understanding the properties of each generation of zirconia and the current evidence in the literature.

Secondary crowns

0 % complicated. 100 % digital.

Together with the Ceramill Matik Full Service Unit, the Ceramill software makes the fabrication of accurately fitting secondary crowns for telescopic restorations easier and more intuitive than ever before.

The familiar, wizard-guided Ceramill workflow is employed here and the time required is drastically reduced. Via the indication "Secondary crowns" in the database, the dental technician can save matched parameters as well as specific milling strategies specifically for this indication.

The workflow has also been optimized to give a more precise definition of the insertion direction and an improved block-out when creating crown bases. After calculating and outputting the milling program, the user can select the re-milling cycles directly on the machine display and re-mill to the desired fit. Furthermore, a workaround or output of multiple milling jobs is not required.

Workflow for secondary crowns Step by Step

Step 01
Scanning

The primary telescopes are scanned in the first step.

Step 02
Design

This is followed by the guided creation of the abutments.

Step 03
Milling

In the next step, the abutments are milled to the control measurement stage.

Step 04
Checking

Time for a control – the friction is checked.

Step 05
Finishing

Once the optimum fit has been achieved, the job is completed - otherwise readjustments are made.
